Your First Visit to Our Totowa Dentist
Here at Dental Arts of Totowa, we are dedicated to keeping you informed, and we want you to know exactly what to expect during your first visit with us. Your first appointment begins with a consultation where Dr. Zoya Mitelberg will review your current situation, explain any diagnosis, and walk you through your treatment options in a relaxed, unhurried setting in Totowa, NJ.
What to Bring to Your Consultation
Please bring the following information with you to your first appointment:
- Your referral slip and X-rays, if applicable
- A list of any medications you are taking
- Any known allergies or medical conditions
- Medical or dental insurance to be filed
To save time at check-in, you can complete your paperwork ahead of time on our Online Forms page.
What Happens During Your First Visit
Your consultation typically includes a review of your medical and dental history, a comprehensive exam of your teeth and gums, and any necessary digital X-rays. Dr. Mitelberg may also perform an oral cancer screening and check for signs of gum disease. Afterward, she will explain her findings and recommend a personalized treatment plan.
Same-Day Treatment and Follow-Up Appointments
Occasionally, treatment can be done the same day as the consultation. However, complex treatment plans or complicated medical histories will require evaluation and a second appointment for treatment. Please let our office know in advance if you have a medical condition that may be a concern prior to surgery, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves or joints, rheumatic fever, or blood disorders.
Sending Previous X-Rays
If you’ve had X-rays taken in the last six months, please have your previous dentist forward them to us. If there is not enough time to get them to us before your appointment, please make arrangements to pick them up and bring them with you.
Patients Under 18
A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under the age of 18. Learn more about our gentle pediatric dentistry services for children and teens.
